The Challenge Event

Our Challenge Event was developed for the front-end of an eight-day technical training course for people in their first three years of experience in the oil industry.  The learning design for the technical training is in syndicate groups with a daily deliverable and a final presentation to a subject matter expert.  ClearWorth combine subject matter experts with case studies and projects and participants from several disciplines.  The purpose of the Challenge Event is to prepare the teams to be able to work efficiently and together on the projects.

The themes of the training 

As part of the two-and-a-half days' training we look at:

  • Leadership in project groups
  • Competition versus collaboration
  • In-house leadership competency framework to give and receive feedback
  • The skills of a high performing team

The style of the programme is highly interactive, we work through the learning cycle five times.  Each of the interactive exercise is 2-3 hours, each one is followed by a group review and feedback from the trainers who have observed the groups working, we then explore a theory which provides new ideas or models for the groups to experiment with in the next exercise.

The Challenge Event is now run worldwide with groups of up to 30 people. It is an intense and fun experience.  ClearWorth has adapted this programme for other clients groups and worked with their leadership frameworks and/or their preferred models.

Through this programme, ClearWorth has donated thousands of pounds to Oxfam.
